Mini-Review The Metal Song Above You
Now I've pinched this idea from another thread (a thread by James) and of course changed it for just metal. As the the title says, just rate the song above you out of 10 and then place your own song for the next person to rate. Below a classic cut from Pyromania as I happen to be listening to this album right now.

You only gave my song 6 so I'm only giving yours 6 Seriously though, I'm gradually re-listening to the Savatage discography at the moment and that album amazingly is next on the list. Its a decent steady song without ever getting spectacular. 6/10.
With Gojira currently up on Metal Wars, the intro on this song is so Nirvaaaaaaana. Gojira - Satan Is a Lawyer - YouTube

^^awesome idea, US
as you may well know, i'm a new convert to Gojira but... while the track itself is fine, i'm not so sure about the rapping/spoken bits, could be funnier also if the name is "Any Lawyer is Satan" - 6/10 mine:- Stryper - To Hell with the Devil who says God can't rock? or more precisely, hair-bang? |

Stryper never did much for me with their Christian glam metal and neither does that song. 5/10.
Now some of Megadeth's best riffs and Dave's best growls. Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction (Studio Version) - YouTube

One of the good songs on a rather pitiful album. Great riff. Probably the first Megadeth song I ever heard, so it still has nostalgia for me.

well, the double-guitar attack is good, but the singer sounds off-key (?) - he probably needs to polish his cords if they want to be up there with the greats - 5/10
mine, a death metal classic:- Carcass - Corporeal Jigsore Quandary (and BastardofYoung is banned from reviewing it) |

Love the heavy beat with the double kick on the drums, good musicianship but barely audible lyrics (i like meaningful lyrics). I've got a Carcass album but rarely listen to it unless i'm in a stinking mood.
Music for people who've had a rough time with parents.

Good stuff. I have this album stored a way somewhere but haven’t listened to it in ages. It's an alternative rock/metal song but I love how it incorporates those Sabbath inspired doomy riffs in the mix.
The vocals are a plus too, they remind me a little of Danzig (though not that good)… 7.5/10 Nokturnal Mortum - Ukraine

Normally I don't like folk-influenced metal, mainly because of the type of the bands that came out of the folk/power metal explosion in Europe around 07 or 08. However, that being said, I found the track to have excellent balance. The folk intro was tasteful, as were the cleanly sung bits--they never veered into cheese territory. The growls reminded me of a Jester Race era Anders Friden which I like as well. Guitar shred bits were cool as were the use of synths. Overall, just a killer track. I think I will getting this album soon. 8.5/10
Now idk if you're into doom as I haven't gotten a chance to really know your taste, so forgive the long running time. If do enjoy doom though, I think you're in for a treat. Pallbearer are a relatively new group from Arkansas who are heavy as ****, but also very melodic. Enjoy.
