Solo in All Along The Watchtower by Hendrix. The experimentations with sound effects his was able to acheive with his strat. Was all but unheard of at that time. Along with his improvisions and natural mastery of the frettboard. Embelished with the outstanding vocals and passion put into a Bob Dylan classic..Great combo for one my favorite solo's ever!!!

This is such a tough question. My recent favorite is Randy Rhoades solo in crazy Train... but I also enjoy Mark Knopfler's solo in Sultan's of Swing on his live album. Hendrix's live albums give me no room to choose a favorite solo from him.... Jimmy Page..... AHH BRAIN IS MELTING!!!

The version of Frank Zappa's "King Kong" on "You can't do that on stage, anymore Vol 3." is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard. It's a 24 minute song(which is something I respect)... and just for the fact that the last 6-8 minutes is this gem of a solo shows Frank Zappa's subtly, and brilliance as a composer.

Not only a brilliant solo, but brilliant placement. A reward for those of us who are patient enough to appreciate a lengthy composition in full.

A bit cliche but Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin and Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd are the best imo.

For a slightly more left field option I think Killer Queen by Queen has quite a tasteful solo as well.
