This is "Butterfly" from Digable Planets' newest project. It's dope stuff.

When I first heard Shabazz when "My Mac Yawns..." I didn't know what to think, it's such a far cry from Ish's earlier work, I bought the EPs and spent a while listening to it before I ****ing loved it. Black Up (aside from Madvillainy 2) was definitely my most eagerly awaited 2011 Hip-Hop release.

I think that Black Up may end up being my favorite hip hop album of the last 2 or 3 years.

Yeah i can't think of anything this good since the ecstatic or born like this.
This album doesn't sound like it samples instruments, it's all like crazy african rhythems if they were put through some really hardcore industrial factory or something its super crazy to listen to. Butterfly raps like it's still the 90's and being interpretive and more typical poetry is still the ****, and over this crazy spacey electronic beats it makes for a excellent contrast but still bangs. Unless Madvilliany 2 actually comes out, this will be hard to beat for album of the year. |
