Damn, I better start thinking about this. Also potentially changing up some old lists (which is harder to do without my beloved RYM, cry me a river etc).

2016
![]() 10. Xiu Xiu - Plays the Music of Twin Peaks 9. William S. Burroughs — Let Me Hang You 8. The Knocks — 55 7. Carly Rae Jepsen — EMOTION Side B 6. Pop. 1280 - Paradise 5. Death Grips - Bottomless Pit 4. Lemon Demon — Spirit Phone 3. Ariana Grande — Dangerous Woman 2. Charli XCX - Vroom Vroom 1. Danny Brown — Atrocity Exhibition Big surprise right? Yeah... Danny Brown delivered his magnum opus in 2016 and I liked it quite a bit. Reaching new levels of manic energy, he managed to fuse techno, post-punk, soul and pretty much everything else into a melting pot of Fuckin' A. This album essentially claimed his spot as my favourite Hip Hop artist of all time. Aside from that, we have a reasonably varied selection of albums here. Post-Punk, Bubblegum Bass, Dance Pop, jazzy/instrumental/classical reinterpretations of Twin Peaks songs and whatever the fuck that William S. Burroughs album is supposed to be. Believe me, there's dozens of albums that could have made the list. EP's, compilations, mixtapes, LP's and even some mashup albums. Truly jam packed with great shit. 2016 has been an incredible year for music, even if we had to see many of it's Legends pass away in the process. And it is a reminder that it's not a bad thing to look forward occasionally, you might just like it. So here's those albums, in order. Enjoy folks: 2016 Top 10 AOTY Playlist

Starting to listen to more releases from 2017 with this in mind. Currently Melodrama is probably in the lead.

![]() 10. Billie Eilish - don't smile at me 9. Scallops Hotel - Over the Carnage Rose a Voice Prophetic 8. Metá Metá - Gira (Trilha Sonora Original do Espetáculo do Grupo Corpo) 7. Charli XCX - Pop 2 6. BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION III 5. Iglooghost - Neō Wax Bloom 4. Standing On The Corner - Red Burns 3. Amnesia Scanner - AS TRUTH 2. Lorde - Melodrama 1. Rina Sawayama - RINA Not point saying much about this years list because I already have a thread listing them, but I will say that I really slacked last year when it comes to listening to lots of new albums and detailing them. And I probably listened to hundreds of albums once, loved them, and they just disappeared from my mind never to see the light of day. So far this year seems to be going along the same path, but I plan to change that. Listened to a fair few new releases over the past month or so. Some are fantastic as well. Here's to 2018 and even more great music.

About time, eh?
2018 ![]() 10. Aïsha Devi - DNA Feelings 9. Daughters - You Won’t Get What You Want 8. Thou - Inconsolable 7. uSSSy - Voyage 6. Avantdale Bowling Club - Avantdale Bowling Club 5. Iglooghost - Clear Tamei 4. Vein - Errorzone 3. Anna von Hausswolff - Dead Magic 2. Clarence Clarity - Think: Peace 1. Amnesia Scanner - Another Life 2018 was probably the most detached period in my life in regards to discovering lots and lots of new and interesting music. It was also the first time I pretty much completely abandoned the forum itself, which has always been a vast resource. Alas, I still found plenty of good shit that I listened to quite a lot. And it probably comes as no surprise to anybody who knows the type of music that I really REALLY like to see who's sitting in the Top. 2 spots. I think it's the best work in both artists careers (and apparently the last album for Clarence ![]()

Don't give up hope on Clarence, even if we don't get another full album from him, he'll at the very least be doing singles and I predict that he'll be working with a lot of other artists like he did with Rina Sawayama.
Did you hear Black Noise 2048 by DJ Khalab?

Yeah he will still be around I assume, and will probably release singles both solo and collab. But we shall see about full length releases.
And I did not, have it on queue now.
