Any takers? I'll send you something if you want, but if you're getting responses might be an idea to list the albums you're being asked to review?

Well, here's the first review of this.
1. A Fortune In Lies This song is pretty good until it picks up at about 45 seconds in. Then it gets really good. The bass is kicking, the vocals are fantastic, and I dig the keyboards! Unfortunately, the drums sound rather unnatural and sometimes, they sound straight up fake! They really bring the track down. Overall, this is a decent. start to a stellar album. 7/10. 2. Status Seeker It is here where the album starts to become stellar. The beginning almost sounds like The Who to me. I don't know why. Probably the keyboards, which are fantastic in both the intro and song in general. The bass is awesomely loud, vocals rock, and the drums are a heck of a lot better. The guitar solo is awesome, as is the guitar in general. The lyrics also are amazing. 9/10. 3. Ytse Jam This song just has a BIG sound. I dig the way it picks up at about 2 and a half minutes in. This is brought out by the excellent drum track, which may include cowbell. It is, in fact, the best drum track on the album thus far. Bass is good, but doesn't get REALLY good till like 4 and a half minutes in. And 5 minutes in, the guitar's flanger makes me wanna headbang. 8.5/10. 4. The Killing Hand Oh my god, The Killing Hand. Where do I begin? First of all, the acoustic intro and the sound effects impress me and immediately make me interested in hearing where it will go from there. After that, the guitars, keyboards, and vocals are at their best. The delay on the drums at about 2 minutes in gets me really into it. Amazing solo after Charlie "stops the killing hand." And finally, the last minute is dark, amazing, and beautiful. 10/10. 5. Light Fuse and Get Away I enjoy the panning, fading-in chord, for one. The bass is once again awesome, after a lack-luster performance in the otherwise perfect "The Killing Hand." And the guitars, drums, and keyboard are all fan-flipping-tastic. I also really dig the reverb on the vocals and the melancholic bridge. 8.75/10. 6. Afterlife Dat intro. AWESOME. Dem drums. KICKING. Dat guitar. EPIC. Dem lyrics. COOL. Yup, all the marks of a good DT song are here. I really dig the semi-sad sound on this one. And vocal harmony? ME LIKEY. I also love the keyboard. Very '80s, but in the best way. Oh, and the last minute solo is freaking awesome and I love it. 8.5/10. 7. The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun This song is almost too epic for words. MY FAVORITE on the album, highlights of this amazing tune are the way it starts as an ambient ballad, the haunting keyboard, that screeching guitar chord. I love all of it. The dark sound is helped by the lyrics, which are helped by the way they're sung. I also DIG the mood whiplash from Ballad to usual DT. 10/10! 8. Only A Matter Of Time Starts with a fantastic intro, for one. Great instrumentation for another. There's not much wrong with this track. It has another one of those semi-sad undertones that works brilliantly! It's in just the right key to get you pumped up. It truly ends the album in a fantastic way. 9/10. Conclusion: A great debut from a great band. Some songs may have been a tad lame, but it's worth it to hear "The Killing Hand" and " The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun." Overall Score: 7.75/10 |
