MB Comic Book Club
OK, so I imagine this is a simple concept. A comic/graphic novel/TPB/whatever is nominated, we all read it, then discuss. I'll probably make up the rules when necessary as I go along, but I'm keeping it simple at the moment. I'll wait for some people to show interest so I can gauge how they might like to approach this or what they'd be into reading. It would make sense to at least start light, since expecting everyone to read all of Will Eisner's A Contract with God might be a tad unrealistic, which is the good thing about comics, since we can always choose to read just one issue of something and see where it goes from there. But other than that, old, new, art, pulp, DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Vertigo, whatevs.
Also, on the one hand it's not so easy to track a comic book down at the library, or find them even at a book/comic store, but there are also... other means to obtain them, so hopefully this shouldn't be too terribly tricky for people to get their hands on stuff. If anyone has a problem then I've amassed a fairly good network of comic collecting resources over the net, so I can probably help anyone out who can't find something. So yeah, hopefully this works out.

Well it'd be cool if we could talk a bit and get a general idea of what to read. Like old school Iron Man or something more recent like Uncanny Avengers. Or something more adult like Preacher. Whatever. Or I know they've done polls in albums clubs where everybody just made suggestions and voted on it... or I can just pick one for all you lazyasses.
I've also had the idea of doing one issue of something and giving people a week to read it, or two weeks or whatever is reasonable, and then we can all vote on whether to continue it or not. Maybe even start another series a little later and have them both, or more, going at the same time. But nobody would be obligated to read them all, just whatever they felt like, so different people could be all be reading different things and talking about them in their own groups. Or something like that.

I like that last idea. Pick one in a series and vote on continuing it or not.
I personally enjoy a more adult themed graphic novel. But Im not opposed to marvel or dc.

It can be whatever. Although I better not find out I'm stuck with a bunch of anti-superhero fun-haters. Another reason I like the idea of more than one series being active at any one time. People who don't want to read one thing won't be left out if they're like Roxy and hate Jesus (Spider-Man), since they'll have something else. Why don't some people make some suggestions, and maybe we'll put a poll up in a day or two, or whenever it feels like the people who are coming are already here.
I've actually got Y the Last Man on my list and have been meaning to get into it, so I'll put that into the pot. Now ya'll's turn...

Y-the last man is great.
I'm going to vote for 100 bullets as its one of my favorites. But I've been meaning to get into the goon.
