Default The Official "The Room" Appreciation Thread

Never before has there been a movie so abysmally great and narcissistic as The Room. I'm not going to lie, I've seen this movie a good 15-20 times, and because of that, I've analyzed it to death. In my opinion, the entire movie is Wiseau painting himself as the innocent saint of the movie. Everybody else is evil and mean except for him, who is an unfortunate man who falls into an unfortunate situation. He would be the quintessential tragic hero had it been his fault for his own downfall.

The plot itself has many confusing intricacies. Claudette never mentions her breast cancer again, and Lisa doesn't seem to care that much about the news. Denny seems to have some sort of mental problem. Mark shaves off his beard in some kind of strange nonsensical symbolic gesture towards his relationship with Johnny and Lisa. For some reason the word "Fiancée" is never used. The movie is so unbelievably ridiculous that it does a 180 on itself and somehow presents itself as legitimate entertainment. It's not so outlandish that it crosses over into Troll 2 territory, as it is still somewhat believable.

In my eyes, the movie itself is a reflection on Tommy's life. Maybe he feels neglected and needs to project himself in a saintly light. Maybe he had a hard breakup with a former "Future Wife" and decided to blow the event out of proportion in a masturbatory screenplay. The movie has gained cult status and I urge all of you who have not seen The Room to go see it now. I've had so many experiences with this movie. I've shown it to friends, I've made friends over it and overall, it's something very personal to me, as it continues to shape my adolescent life.

and that was my pretentious take on the citizen kane of bad movies. What do you guys have to say?

bump.

I love this movie, it is like the Citizen Kane of god awful movies. Everything about it is so awfully perfect (perfectly awful).

In case anyone doesn't know of a good way to find the film yet.

I love "The Room".
My favourite part is when Johnny and Lisa are about to have sex and Denny just jumps in their bed and says "I just like to watch you guys".
Denny is definitely one of the most disturbing film characters of all time.
