Yeah, I've watched maybe 4 or 5 movies this entire year. I guess Harry Potter was my favorite

Out of the movies I've seen this year it'd probably go like this:

1) Drive
2) Trollhunter
3) Sucker Punch
4) Hobo with a Shotgun

The only other movie I've seen this year has been the remake of Straw Dogs and that piece of shit only deserves to be put on a list of things I'd like to see beaten to death with a crowbar.

I am holding out hope that the remake/prequel of John Carpenter's 1982 classic The Thing will be a good October Friday night movie with other monster movie enthusiasts but... well from what I've seen in the trailers it's going to more or less be just like the original. It's not really a bad thing, I mean there's only so many things you can do with a shape-shifting alien monster thing, but still, they've had 29 years to make this god damn movie. I'm sure December will offer up some decent Oscar bait though.

Heh. The funny thing is that the John Carpenter version of The Thing was itself a remake.

Really? I mean, I know I'm probably playing a stereotypical snob card here but you'd rate that among the top films of the year?

I kinda share the sentiment... although I can't really judge. I tried watching the movie twice, but turned it off in disgust each time.
So, to be fair, I haven't seen the whole thing. Couldn't bring myself to it. So I could be totally wrong about it...
