I just skimmed the thread, so forgive me if it's been said, but i feel like the so called injustice of societal pressure on womens' bodies is actually creating an acceptance of unhealthy figures. Size 16 =/= unhealthy because Size 16 =/=fat, but fat does equal unhealthy in the same way that very skinny equals unhealthy. For some reason though people only get upset when fat women are criticized and not when things like this are said:
In my opinion though, someone living an unhealthy lifestyle shouldn't be offended by criticism if they are complacent about it. I just wanted to point out the double standard. |

It's a good thing to point out. I'm not exactly reserved about my opinions of so called "fat acceptance" movements. I think they're actually glorifying, or I suppose a more proper term might be "excusing" a seriously unhealthy lifestyle. That being said, it's often a medical condition, not a lifestyle choice. So I don't exactly believe in going around saying "HEY FATTY!" to people on the streets.

Yeah I was thinking about that too. I think organizations like NAAFA have good intentions, but I wonder if they're doing more harm than good. I obviously don't think we should be insensitive towards them, and we definitely shouldn't discriminate against them, but I think "acceptance" seems a bit dangerous. Do note that I'm not pertaining to people who can't control it, obviously. I think it's just that we should always really aim for being as healthy as we can.

Why did you even start this thread. I'm looking to your comments to see the reason and you're contradicting yourself and being judgmental. EXCEPT TO NSW, OH NO GOD FORBID YOU'RE MEAN TO SOMEONE YOU KNOW. Give me a break. To NSW, this has nothing to do with you specifically, just hypocritical statements. I DO think you're pretty and I don't care about your weight, but I'm not a hypocrite, and I'll call them out as I see them. |
