Hi, my name is John, I'm new here but certainly not new to the world of music.
I can respectively say that I enjoy some parts of all genres however rock/metal is by far my favorite. I love the music talent and all the components needed to create rock music. To me it is by far the most complex and difficult genre to pull off. With that said let me name a few of my favorite bands. Avenged Sevenfold Rush Dream Theater Iron Maiden Pink Floyd Alter Bridge etc.. Now more about me personally. I play the guitar, drums, piano, and a little bass. Although guitar is my best instrument. I am currently playing with a band the me and my good friend Ryan started. We are in the early stages, and as a matter of fact still don't have a name. I act as lead guitar and vocals (I do not plan on doing vocals for very long we just have yet to accumulate a lead singer. Once we do I'll do backup.). I pretty much write all the material and am currently in the middle of devising a piece. Ryan acts as Bass and Piano. Our other member is Danny who acts as our drummer. I hope to learn more about music in this forum and hope it will enlighten me further into the world of music. My main musical goal is writing and creating music of my own. I also want to here more types of music to widen my horizon into other methods I could incorporate into my music. Thank you. |

Welcome to the forums - I like most of the bands you listed, minus Alter Bridge, but that's just me. Hope you find yourself at home. There's a few fans of Dream Theater, Rush, etc., but a lot of the prog fans are into more obscure prog. It depends who you talk to. Either way, jump right in on making threads and chiming in on current discussions. We could use more music discussion. People will warm up to you the longer you stick around.
