Default The Notwist

A german band that formed about 89 who began as a melodic punk/hardcore band swam through Jazz-electro and ended up at the shore of Electronic guitar pop. Throughout their ever changing sound there has only been one line up change and a distinct whiff of Dinosaur Jr on a lot of their output which is hardly a crime is it?

Begin with the self titled debut then the latest release 'The Devil, You & Me', then have fun listening to the join the dots albums in the middle. Something for everyone I think and they seem accomplished to whatever sound they go for.

Early years (not much available on utube):

Electro-Jazz era:

Maybe try something from their crossover phase such as 'Shrink'. I like it all to be honest.

Neon Golden is classic. 12 is pretty good too. I've still never heard Shrink, for some reason it's kind of a hard album to find.

Does anyone fancy a comp by these guys? I so appreciate their evolution and the fact that it ALL sounds good.

What do you care, you're gonna make one anyways, and me and Lucy and PMo will all down load it just to name a few.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

I was listening to Silversun Pickups again today. The vocals are so college rock whiny but they are just growing on me so much. I know I will do a comp but justification and appreciation is food for the soul

Yeah they're definitely boring out of the Pumpkin's book, and i have to admit i thought it was a girl singing at first :s Solid album though.
Well you're guaranteed a listen if you put the track in the first video on man.
