Get Trollheart Into Hip-hop!
Yeah, it's the thread you've been waiting for. Any subgenre of hip-hop accepted, one album per member per time, and you don't get to rec again until that album has been listened to and posted. Try, if possible a) not to rec me stuff you know I'll hate (though I fully understand that my lack of experience with this genre makes it hard to know what I'll like and what I won't, so I won't hold it against you) and b) not to rec one of the artists I've already heard, unless you think I haven't listened to their best album. Be aware though, that whatever your intentions, anyone posting a rec for an artist I've already heard (whether I reacted well or badly to them) will be moved down the line in favour of artists I have not yet heard.
Anyone posting multiple albums will be ignored; please don't be a dick. This is a serious attempt by a total hip-hop n00b to get into the genre, or at least try to explore it with something of a slightly less closed mind than usual. As I already have a few other threads going, and am trying to concentrate on my writing too, don't expect a reaction right away, and be patient as I take my time to listen to your recs. Okay, then, hit me! Current Album List Aesop Rock – Labor Days (Maajo) Madvillain – Madvillainy (Frownland) k-os - Joyful Rebellion (Paedentic Basterd) Shabazz Palaces - Black Up (Gigantic Debaser) Lil Ugly Mane - Oblivion Access (Machine) Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick (Ziggy) Chino XL - Ricanstruction: The Black Rosary ([MERIT]) The Ulramagnetic MC's - Critical Beatdown (Neapolitan) Oddisee – The Beauty In All (Man Like Monkey) INDEX A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory Kate Tempest - Let Them Eat Chaos List of artists by whom I have heard at least one album (some of these may not even be proper hip-hop, but what do I know?) - as others are recced and listened to I'll add them here. TH.... A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory You might as well start with the greatest hip hop album of all time as far as I'm concerned. |

All suggestions will be added.
MLM, yes I did like Oddisee but as I said, if I've heard the artist before, I will take the rec but it will be moved down, so you're going to be last for now. Thanks guys. Will get on these and get back to you as soon as I can. Oh, and surely I don't need to say, but I will anyway, don't be upset if I don't like your rec. You might think it's the greatest hip-hop album of all time - ninety-nine percent of people may think that - but bear one very important fact in mind when considering this: I'm Trollheart.
