Album title: Maybe Tomorrow Artist: Mike Tramp Genre: Soft Rock/Melodic Rock Nationality: Danish Release date: February 24 Position in Discography: Tenth Fear Factor: Low Familiar with this artist? No Familiar with the genre or subgenre? Yes Average RYM Score: 2.87 Mike who? Oh, you remember White Lion don't you? No? Neither do I, and I'm into this sort of music. Well, anyway, apparently he was their mainman back in the day, and they were something of a big thing, with a hit single called “When the Children Cry”. Think I may have heard of that. Anyway, he and they are Danish, and this is not his first solo album. Now you know. I must say, he does not look at all well on the album cover: like some sort of Borg or something. What's up with that? Reminds me of REM initially, good catchy stuff. In fact, check that: this guy sounds really like Stipe. Decent music, enjoyable, but hardly enough to set anyone's pulses racing, even mine, and I wouldn't be rushing to check his discography, nor that of White Lion. Check out more from this artist? Might, in due course. Might not. Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes Expectation Index: 0

I'll bet the only ones who looked more bored with that video than I did were the guys in the band. If I'd been drinking anything I'd have done a spit take when I saw the song was almost seven minutes.

Album title: Canvas Artist: Moya Brennan Genre: Folk/World/Country Nationality: Irish Release date: February 24 Position in Discography: Tenth Fear Factor: Low Familiar with this artist? Through Clannad, yes, a little Familiar with the genre or subgenre? Not as such Average RYM Score: N/A Well I always knew her as Maire Brennan when she played with Irish trad band Clannad, but it seems she changed her stage name to prevent people having a problem with pronunciation of her own name, and changed it legally by deed poll in 2009, so officially she's now Moya Brennan. And yes, she's Enya's elder sister, but don't hold that against her. Maire – sorry, Moya – has a very distinctive voice, which always sent shivers through me; a real ethereal sort of timbre to it. There's not a lot of information available on this album, but I'd be willing to bet there are several traditional instruments used on it, as the music creates an atmosphere very reminiscent of Clannad. To that end, I like the inclusion of several Irish language tracks, which just add to the general air of mystery and wonder on the album. Very relaxing, and takes you off to a mystical, magical place. Better than drugs? I wouldn't know. But cheaper, anyway. Check out more from this artist? Yes, I think I will Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes Expectation Index: 0

Album title: Tardigrades Will Inherit the Earth Artist: The Mute Gods Genre: Progressive Rock Nationality: English Release date: February 24 Position in Discography: Second Fear Factor: Low Familiar with this artist? No Familiar with the genre or subgenre? Very Average RYM Score: 3.13 Another supergroup, eh? I really think the day of these coalitions of talent has come and gone, and personally, even as a proghead, I don't recognise any of these names. Oh look! One of them was with Kajagoogoo! Very progressive! Tardigrades are, apparently, microscopic creatures who dwell in water. Here, read more if you want: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade Still, annoying supergroup tag aside, is this album, their second, any good? Nice, if predictable, instrumental intro then do I assume it's a concept album? With titles like “Animal Army”, “The Singing Fish of Batticaloa” and the title track, it seems like it might be. So far it's pretty good I must say. Kind of reminds me of Spock's Beard. I'd say it's a decent album but I've heard far better. Even as a proghead I wouldn't be going mad about this, though I might listen to it again at some point. Check out more from this artist? Maybe Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Always Expectation Index: 3
