Well, June has certainly kicked off well, I don't think. The first album up is not available anywhere – and just as well, really, as there's so little information on it – and the second one is not on Spotify, but I did manage to find it on YouTube. And here it is.

Album title: Gotti Made-It
Artist: Yo Gotti/Mike WiLL Made-It
Genre: Hip-hop
Nationality: American
Release date: June 1
Position in Discography: First collab
Estimated Rating:

Have I heard of this artist? Gotti, no; Made-it, yes
Have I heard anything by this artist? Same answer as above
Average RYM Score: 2.65
I've listened to one album by Mike WiLL Made-it, but this is the first time I've heard him collaborate with any other artist. It's a short mixtape, only nine tracks, and so far it's pretty good stuff, mostly trap from what I can make out. It's not bad, but I wouldn't be getting too excited about it. Of course, I know about as much about hip-hop as Frown knows about tact, but even so, I've heard some good hip-hop and some really bad. This doesn't even fall in between; it's just sort of ... there. Not really for me. Well now, “Letter to the Trap” is pretty sweet, but that only leaves two tracks, so even if I love them that's still more than half the mixtape I don't rate much. As it happens, the closer is pretty good but the other track, not so much. An okay mixtape but I'm sure both have done better.

Check out more from this artist? Dunno
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes

This seems a little more extensive than the wiki list, plus you can sort it by release date. No pressure though.

Thanks, but halfway through my project? I don't think so. I'll take a look at it, maybe, but I'm sticking with the Wiki list, as I said I would from the beginning.

Not for last month, no. When was that released? To be considered for Not On The List this month, it needs to have been released in May. If it's an April album, too late.

Apart from anything else, all that list is is, well, a list. Literally. There is no information on it. So if I were to use it (which as I already stated I will not be) I would have to look up each album somewhere else. Double work. Appreciate the input though.

You don't look up the albums beyond Wikipedia? How do you listen to them then?

Position in Discography: Second

I think this may be the first month – one of the first, anyway – that hasn't begun with at least one K-pop album, and for that I am grateful, even if I did have to end the previous one with two of them. So grateful, in fact, that I can listen to Punk Rock without even batting an eyelid. Sort of. Punk albums seem to share one thing with K-pop ones, in that they are both generally short, and this one runs for just over half an hour with a total of ten tracks. It's not actually that bad, so far. There's a nice chanted chorus and some sweet riffs on “Whether Terrified or Unafraid”, but overall I'm not a fan of the raucous, screeching, overwrought vocal. Much of the time the words are just shouted, and while this fits in well I guess with the aggression Punk is known for, it doesn't make for a listenable song, at least not to me. Bah.

Having said that, “No Apologies” works very well. I like the line “They warn you about the wolves, but they don't warn you about the sheep.” The way he speaks most of the lines in this suits the song, at least in the midsection. The powerful, angry guitars really complement his vocal, the first time I've been able to say that on this album. The closer is pretty impressive too. But overall, not really too much to get excited about, not for me anyway.
