You don't look up the albums beyond Wikipedia? How do you listen to them then?

Album title: Two Parts Viper
Artist: '68
Genre: Punk Rock/Noise Rock/Blues Rock
Nationality: American
Release date: June 2
Position in Discography: Second
Estimated Rating:

Have I heard of this artist? No
Average RYM Score: 3.30
I think this may be the first month – one of the first, anyway – that hasn't begun with at least one K-pop album, and for that I am grateful, even if I did have to end the previous one with two of them. So grateful, in fact, that I can listen to Punk Rock without even batting an eyelid. Sort of. Punk albums seem to share one thing with K-pop ones, in that they are both generally short, and this one runs for just over half an hour with a total of ten tracks. It's not actually that bad, so far. There's a nice chanted chorus and some sweet riffs on “Whether Terrified or Unafraid”, but overall I'm not a fan of the raucous, screeching, overwrought vocal. Much of the time the words are just shouted, and while this fits in well I guess with the aggression Punk is known for, it doesn't make for a listenable song, at least not to me. Bah.

Having said that, “No Apologies” works very well. I like the line “They warn you about the wolves, but they don't warn you about the sheep.” The way he speaks most of the lines in this suits the song, at least in the midsection. The powerful, angry guitars really complement his vocal, the first time I've been able to say that on this album. The closer is pretty impressive too. But overall, not really too much to get excited about, not for me anyway.
Check out more from this artist? No
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes

Obviously, I'm not talking about listening to them, which I do via Spotify or YouTube. I'm talking about getting enough pertinent information on the album to be able to write a little about it. If the album isn't on Wiki it's not included. You know that. If there's not enough information on one I'll go to Discogs, and that's generally it, other than a Google search. But a good ninety percent or so of the albums on the Wiki list have enough information on the Wiki page to allow me to write about them. That list you posted has information on NONE of the albums, that I could see. Just name and artist and release date. That's it. I'd have to look up every single one independently of the list. Anyway, it's a moot point, but just to clear that one up, that's what I mean.

When you click on it it takes you to a page with genre details and reviews if there are any. Are you saying that half of your work here is looking at a wiki page? Why not just repost wiki deets? Are you incapable of understanding what an album is just by listening to it?

Just say no dude, I don't need your fake excuses.

No it doesn't. I clicked several; it brings you nowhere. Anyway, as I said, I can of course review an album by just listening to it, but I like to have some pertinent details to write up - this is the last album with X, the band were inspired by Z, this album was recorded in space, and so on. I like to read about the album so that I have something more to say about it than what I hear in the music.

Also, stick it: I don't need to excuse myself to you or anyone else. Thanks for your input.

Now you're just making **** up. If you click on the album it tells you the genres and shows reviews if there are any.

Just repost the wiki details if you can't formulate your own thoughts on a record then.

He said after making several paragraphs full of weak excuses to justify his stubbornness.

Album title: We the People

Genre: Heavy Metal/Alt-Metal/Hard Rock

Position in Discography: Third

Hmm. Sounds a little metal-by-numbers when it starts, but I'm only two tracks in so I'll give it a chance. Nothing really standing out just yet though. Singer does remind me of Ronnie James Dio at times, and “The Killer's Inside” is catchy indeed, has a nice hook in the chorus; perhaps a little on the light side considering the subject matter but otherwise pretty damn good. Maybe this album is about to take an upswing. Yes, it's definitely getting better now. “Bleeding Hands” is a good, kind of country-tinged song while “Chasing Dragons” has a sort of AOR feel to it – think Bon Jovi, Bonfire, Axxis, that kind of thing – with maybe elements of Priest in there too. I'm not sure whether a different vocalist has taken over since the third track (but I doubt it, as only one is mentioned) or if he has just changed his style, but if it's the same guy then he's less guttural now, and more easily understood when he sings.

“Raise 'em Up” is another good catchy and anthemic rocker, if a little simplistic and I really like “Blind Leading the Blind”, which starts off acoustically and fools you into thinking it's going to be one of those cowboy ballad songs, then kicks right up and shows its teeth. “Lords of Thunder” has a mixture of power, speed and even progressive metal in it, and they end with a cover of Billy Idol's “Rebel Yell”, though why they bothered I can't say, as it's almost exactly like the original. Nevertheless, the album turned out to be a definite improvement from the two opening tracks.
Check out more from this artist? Yeah

I clicked on several: all they brought me to was a picture of the album and a release date. Reviews: none. Great help. Maybe they weren't representative of the list, but that's what I got and I'll be damned if I'm going through the whole list to see.

Now you, a mod, are advocating breakage of the rules to a member? Interesting...
Worse than pathetic, even for you. I obviously use Wiki for research, then post my own thoughts.

However, it is amusing that after all this time you still think your opinion matters to me. It's nothing to me; you're nothing to me. It's kind of cute and also sad that you can't get that through your head. Bother someone else. I'm busy.
