Oh wow no! Do they use the N-word in hip-hop? Seriously? And I've heard dozens of albums now and haven't heard it used once....
It's different a) when someone uses it in music that is engaging and interesting and b) when they don't use it every line of a song. Helps if the singer isn't boring as ****, too.

Album title: Different Days Artist: The Charlatans Genre: Britpop Nationality: English Release date: May 26 Position in Discography: Thirteenth Estimated Rating: Have I heard of this artist? Yes Have I heard anything by this artist? No Average RYM Score: 2.94 Hey this is pretty damn good. I've heard of The Charlatans but, as noted above, never actually heard any of their music. It's all really enjoyable from the off, with “Plastic Machinery” being an early standout. Also worthy of special note are “There Will Be Changes” and “Over Again”, but I have to say I hate “The Same House” - it's just too twee for words and I don't know what the hell they were thinking about with this one. Still, it's only a slight aberration, a small speed-bump on a pretty straight road, and normal service is soon resumed with “Let's Go Together”. Yeah, great album. Enjoyed that a lot. Album title: Black Laden Crown Artist: Danzig Genre: Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Nationality: American Release date: May 26 Position in Discography: Eleventh Estimated Rating: Have I heard of this artist? Yes Have I heard anything by this artist? Yes Average RYM Score: 2.46 Don't shoot me if I'm wrong here, but aren't Danzig renowned for faster, thrashier metal than this? This sounds almost like a cross between Doom and Pagan Metal as it opens on the title track. I mean, it's good – and I haven't listened to many Danzig albums – but this comes across as something of a surprise to me. We'll see how it goes, of course. I've got to say I really don't like his voice here – it's like listening to a cross between Morrison and Cave, and most of the time it seems very, I don't know: raw? Like it's either badly produced or he's making sure his voice is well above the music. I don't particularly like the songs either, and I can't see any of them as standing out. Bit of a disappointment to me, but maybe this is what Danzig is normally like? I don't remember the album(s) I heard being like this though. Oh well. Check out more from this artist? Nah that sounds like old school Danzig. Danzig's classic, early albums were bluesy hard rock mixed with a mutant strain of Black Sabbath. This honestly sounds like Danzig gave up on all the trendy gimmicks that made fans flee in droves and is desperately trying to regain credibility. Not bad though.

Album title: Anarchy and Alchemy Artist: Echobelly Genre: Indie Rock Nationality: English Release date: May 26 Position in Discography: Sixth Estimated Rating: Have I heard of this artist? Yes Have I heard anything by this artist? No Average RYM Score: 3.22 Sounds like they have a wolf or a coyote doing backup vocals when this starts, but once it gets going it's a very pleasant album I must say. I like the singer's voice; she has almost folkish tinges in there, and generally it's relatively laid back and mid-paced. “If The Dogs Don't Get You, My Sisters Will” has a kind of Lanterns on the Lake feel to it, and there's a very bouncy poppy idea to “Faces in the Mirror”, with a kind of new-wave synthy romp on “Molotov”. Lovely bluesy tone to the closer, “Dead Again”. Good stuff. Check out more from this artist? Yes Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes Actual Rating:

Album title: Scribble Artist: Esham Genre: Hip-hop Nationality: American Release date: May 26 Position in Discography: Sixteenth Estimated Rating: Have I heard of this artist? No Average RYM Score: 3.21 Jesus Christ I love this! From the first beat it has me; haven't heard a bad track yet. “How to Kill a Drug Dealer” is totally infectious, “Black Sheep” rocks and then “Time Card” pulls everything back to the low and mellow, before exploding back with “Earning my $”. Just about every track here is amazing - “Euphoric Rampage” is a real standout, as is “Benevolence”, but it's hard to find one that isn't good. “Spirit Cooker”, “Organic”, “Nothing New”, all great. Fantastic album, really enjoyed it. Check out more from this artist? Oh hell yeah Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes Actual Rating:

I just literally lol'd at TH liking Esham so much. Please please please listen to his best known album. I don't know if it sounds anything like this album, but if you now have an interest I think it would be hilarious to hear your thoughts, regardless of your reaction, and at this point I can't predict what that would be. Cause ****ing Esham? Really?
(I like Esham btw)

How the Gods Kill was more on the metal side of his classic trilogy of albums, but check out his debut and that song at least wouldn't be at all out of place. And even How the Gods Kill wasn't really thrashy, just a bit with more trad metal than usual. Quote:
