Genre: R&B/Soul
Nationality: Korean
Release date: February 1
Position in Discography: Second
Fear Factor: Moderate

Looks like we're staying in Korea for now, but changing sex as we sample the second EP of the month, and indeed the second from this guy. All right, this is pretty bland and makes no real impression on me. The second last track has a nice seventies ballad feel to it, but other than that, pretty forgettable. Oh, and the guy looks like a dick: I mean, orange hair???

Check out more from this artist? Nah
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Shrug

So on we go to February, and we're right back in the land of teenage girls, sparkly costumes and inappropriately sexy dancing: that's right. K-pop is back and we're among the girls. An EP to start us off easily, and though K-pop is not something I'd actively listen to, it's hard not to like these girls. There's just so much energy and enthusiasm in the music, and overall it comes across as friendly and happy. Last track sounds like it belongs on an eighties Whitney Houston album or something though; kind of out of keeping with the rest of the album. EP, I mean. Whatever.

Check out more from this artist? If it comes up in the list later, otherwise I've no particular wish to but I wouldn't be averse either
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? I have no doubt I will

I think some of the appeal of these K-pop bands is that I haven't the first idea what they're singing about. Much of what I mock Kesha for is her lyrics, so, you know. But we'll see what happens when I cross that rainbow, huh?

Why would you mock something that's not meant to be taken seriously? It's redundant.

Cos Trollheart.
Also to annoy you. It's always worth doing something just to piss you off.

You not getting music is hardly shocking to me.

Album title: I Decided
Artist: Big Sean
Genre: Hip-Hop
Nationality: American
Release date: February 3
Position in Discography: Fourth
Fear Factor: High
Familiar with this artist? No but I've heard of him and his less famous brother, Little Sean
Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No
Average RYM Score: 2.43
Well **** hip-hop. I'm starting to get used to it, even beginning to enjoy some of it. This kicks off nicely and I really like the slower melodies and beats, not to mention he's a good rapper too, not that I know anything about it. He doesn't hurt my ears, that's all I know. He can get quite angry though, can't he? This is pretty enjoyable so far (seven track in, so halfway through) and to prove it, I've even written down some lyric I liked: “I care more about chemistry than anatomy she's mad at me” - that's close to genius, Big guy! Hmm. I see Eminem is on this. I didn't notice, but then, I wouldn't, would I? Good album for sure.

Check out more from this artist? Yes
Check out more from this genre or subgenre? Yes, I'm continually trying to kill my image of hip-hop and get a little into it

It's not about not getting it, it's about making you bang your head against your bedroom wall screaming "**** Trollheart! **** Trollheart!"
Rinse and repeat.
