Why did you not have MB members PM their personal favorites for this years or something along those lines. They could save you a heap of trouble. It's not an opinion if someone on MB say "here try this out." I think being forced-fed would be someone saying "you must like this." I understand ultimately you will do what you want. If you want to wade through the marsh lands of music mediocrity, be my guest.

You don't find gems in the rough by being handed things from MB members.
This is the only way as you say it yourself. Just respect his process. He would find more this way.

In response to Ped and Nea, I've already addressed this, and thanks for the comments. Already I've discovered what could be my AOTY at some point, as well as a Vietnamese jazz/World Music album I would not have even had any chance of hearing had I taken the advice of anyone who thinks I should do this in a different way. I've decided to do it this way, and it's my decision. As DJ and Lucem say, and I thank them for it, let me do this as I see fit. If I regret it later I have only myself to blame. So far, I'm not regretting it.
Just enjoy the show, or leave me be. Oh, and to Nea: I expect this will certainly carry over into 2018, but I would intend to finish it at some point next year. It may run concurrent for a time with 2018 albums; I've already thought about this.

Album title: Godfather Artist: Wiley Genre: Grime Nationality: English Release date: January 13 Position in Discography: Eleventh Fear Factor: Critical Familiar with this artist? No Familiar with the genre or subgenre? No Check out more from this artist? No Check out more from this genre or subgenre? No, unless I have to (Homer Simpson voice) Wiley Coyote? No? Darn darn darn! So this is my introduction to the delights of Grime, is it? Well, if I'm going to have to listen to it I suppose the man who is regarded as the Godfather of Grime (hence the album title) is as good an introduction as you can get. Meh, it's not without its charm, but basically fast-paced rap against bass and drum patterns (I assume) with no real tune I can recognise (mostly) doesn't really do it for me. Also, I thought I must have heard about four tracks and looked and I was only on track two. Grrr! I'll be honest: this rapid-fire delivery, relentless as it is, is giving me a headache. You know what? **** this: I'm not listening to seventeen tracks of this. I'm more than three in so I can't use Three Strikes, so let me introduce my new clause: Bailing Out! And here I go. (Note: I got six tracks into this before I bailed) Expectation Index: 0

Now that's a healthy way to approach music.

Meh. I need to have an expectation as to whether I'm going to like it or not, and though I've not always been right in the assumption, most of the time so far I've been pretty close to being on the money.
