Mods, please delete the entire forum. It is, as you probably know, all part of some horrible dream I'm having anyway, and I can hear my alarm going off...

We Are They Who Ache With Amorous Love - Half Japanese
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I'd heard that they were a band who didn't know how to play their instruments, in actual fact the rhythm section is really tight when it wants to be, and the guitar locks in to that backing nicely. The noise elements in tracks like How did you know are done really well too. The DIY/lofi aesthetic works for this band, it never sounds muddy, there's a clarity to the music and a sense that they are a bunch of guys who connect really well with each other when they play. My biggest gripe are the covers - Gloria, All of me and Going home were terrible imo and added nothing to the album sitting amongst great originals like The Titanic and How did you know. 7/10 |

All I'm really going to do is try to express why this is in the unassailable club. This is music that only props itself up with genius. This is a nude woman, no make up, vagina ripe and unwashed, breath of garlic and onions, exposed and full of lust. Are you man enough to let her melt into you? To accept and love her humanity as it is? To suck on her healthy bitter sex? That's what this music is. Pure. Real. Not dirty. Not rotten. But not cleaned up either. This is nature. Perfect five out of five stars without question. |

You take a song that was already stripped to the pure essence of rocknroll. Stripped again by Patti Smith and then you would think there's nowhere to go but incredibly they strip it yet again even further exposing the joyous core.
