I suppose now that you've already listened to a Gorillaz album and don't seem to be in too much of a hurry to hear their other work, I'll swap my pick if that's okay?
I'm thinking Aha Shake Heartbreak by Kings of Leon instead, however if you've already heard it I can find something else! |

Title: Alopecia Artiste: Why? Genre: Indie, Hip-hop Familiarity: Zero https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alopecia_(album) Track 1(Love) Sort of like hip-hop but sung, like a male version of Kitty, though not really. Music is good too. Nice to hear guitar. Turns into a sort of Countryish tune then near the end. Interesting. Track 2(Love) Oh I really like this! Kind of dark jangly guitar with a slow rap and even backing vox. Track 3(Love) This has a dark kind of presence I like, offset by some sparkly piano or something. Track 4(Love) The first almost angry song, but I like it Track 5(Love) Like the way this builds up Track 6(Love) Slow and menacing Track 7(Love) This however is nice and uptempo. Like that not every song has a rap; this one has singing. Track 8(Love) This does, but it's kind of like their “We will rock you” or something. Apologies to those who don't like Queen, but that's what it reminds me of. Track 9 Meh, wasn't mad about that one. Track 10(Love) This one is great though Track 11(Love) This too. The swirling keyboards are great. Track 12(Love) Just a really lovely track Track 13(Love) So if a rap can impress me then the song has to be good in my opinion; love the soul idea in this. Track 14(Love) Great closer; almost progressive rock with a rap over it! End result: I was not expecting much from this, but then I remembered who recommended it. It's probably gonna take a lot for me to disagree with any of WWWP's picks. So far she's 100% and I don't see that changing soon. I think her music taste is vastly underrated here. So, Love or Hate? Another Love. Chances of a full review: 6/10

I agree. Neither Dirt nor Jar of Flies can compare to just how boring and uninspired the self-titled is.

Title: The trials of Van Occupanther Artiste: Midlake Genre: Progressive Folk Familiarity: Zero https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tr...an_Occupanther Track 1(Love) Holy good crap! This is excellent from the word go! Love the melody, the voice is great, the whole structure of the thing is incredible. Four guitarists equals one superb wall of sound. Track 2(Love) Quite Beatlesesque in its way; laidback and dreamy Track 3(Love) Three for three so far. This is another great track, led by some sprightly piano, and with vocal harmonies that would make the Eagles envious! Track 4(Love) Slower track, lovely flute work, another winner. Track 5(Love) Now some lovely violin, then a drumbeat like a train approaching the station. This album just keeps getting better, and shows no signs of changing that. Track 6(Love) Still showing no signs of deteriorating. Love the piano in this. Track 7(Love) Gorgeous little pastoral acoustic tune – oh, okay: it got more intense. Still beautiful. Love this. Track 8(Love) There has not been one single thing I have even slightly disliked about this album so far. Track 9(Love) Uptempo, great piano, superb vox, just another perfect track. Absolutely ****ing love this. Oh man! That guitar solo! Track 10(Love) Another great acoustic ballad with some clever wordplay and excellent vocal harmonies. Track 11(Love) And a super little closing track. End result: Having had no idea what to expect coming into this, I must say I'm beyond impressed. This album has just totally floored me, kind of in the same was as Woodkid did. Looks like you score again, DWV! So, Love or Hate? I have to make this a True Love. It's just mandatory in the face of such greatness. Chances of a full review: 10/10

Damn sounds like a cool album. I've heard "Antiphon" by the same band but didn't find it notably memorable, maybe I should give this one a shot
