But it's much longer, featuring a full concert, showcasing Waits in terrific form, performing some of his best songs. Not saying it's the only Waits album you need, but it's pretty much the only Waits album I really need.
"Waitslands": brilliant!

It's to Ribot and also that I need to listen to that album. I have it cued on YT, just need to take some time off from this thread and my journals now to get a chance to listen to it.

I don't know Ribot (how cool that you can mechanise him though by changing one letter?) but I do realise that he plays some of the best guitar work on some of the really classic Waits albums. And of course, circle jerk away: had I the time and opportunity I'd probably listen to Waits all day, every day.

Title: The Mollusk
Artiste: Ween
Genre: Experimental
Familiarity: Zero

Track 1(Love) Twenties piano and tuba (?) song to kick off. Weird but good, sort of almost a children's song feel about it. Oh, I see it is, a very old one.
Track 2(Love) Nice progressive idea about this, love the swirling keyboards
Track 3(Love) Back to the idea of kids' songs here. Very endearing though. Not quite sure about the ending; seemed like it was going into a smooth organ line then just cut off. Thought it would continue in track four but
Track 4(Love) Just gone wild here; almost punk rock in terms of speed and energy. Great solo. What on? Not sure...
Track 5(Love) Some of the vocals on this are weird, but I do like it. Kind of an odd rap in it.
Track 6(Love) ****ing hilarious!
Track 7(Love) This is just lovely
Track 8(Love) Strange vibe to this one, but it's good. Very different.
Track 9(Love) This is great. Simple acoustic ballad with folk overtones. Reminds me of the Hooters and Strawfoot. I think this may be my favourite on the album. I do however have an issue with the way some of the tracks end abruptly, as does this one.
Track 10(Hate) Nah, the shuffle beat is nice but a dog barking and someone moaning or belching through the track doesn't do it for me.
Track 11(Love) But this is hilarious. Love the frenetic pace of the song.
Track 12(Love) This one's just ok. I don't hate it but it's a little of a letdown for some reason... No, I take that back: it just went totally epic with that guitar solo and the orchestration near the end.
Track 13(Love) Yeah, I really like this one.
Track 14(Love) A sea shanty? Perfect ending. Reprise is good too.

End result: A really good album, especially for a so-called experimental one. Very enjoyable with few if any low points. I can see why it's so highly regarded.

So, Love or Hate? Score one for the Love category!

Pretty much exactly what I expected although I wasn't sure if you'd dig the faster punk rock-ish songs but turns out you liked those too!

His work with Waits is great, but I'm sure you'll be stunned to find out that I like Ribot's jazz and work with John Zorn the best. Nobody has phrasing quite like Ribot, it's what makes him my favourite guitarist tbh.

Title: Bionic parts
Artiste: Mocket
Genre: Experimental/ Art Rock/Post punk/Who knows?
Familiarity: Zero

Track 1(Love) Odd mix of ind of new-wave vocals with a punkish guitar. Not mad about it but I don't hate it.
Track 2(Love) Female vocal in the mould of Siouxsie or Hazel O'Connor. Not crazy about this either. But again, I don't quite hate it.
Track 3(Hate) Yeah, I don't like this at all. It's just a little too chaotic. Not my thing at all.
Track 4(Hate) Nor this.
Track 5(Love) This one's better. Like the keyboards.
Track 6(Hate) Sorry, I'm just bored now.
Track 7(Hate) This is ridiculously repetitive
Track 8(Hate) Kind of an early U2 guitar here. That's the only thing of interest to me
Track 9(Hate) The boredom continues unabated
Track 10(Hate) Nothing left to say; just waiting for the end now
Track 11(Hate) And here it is. At least the tracks were all short, mostly, which is about the only positive thing I can say about this album.

End result: Well, it had to happen some time, bob; you've been batting 100 as I think you guys say over there, but this time you've (whatever the term is for dropping the ball). Or to put it my own soccer terms, you've been scoring for fun recently but now you've missed an open goal. Sorry, I just have nothing good to say about this. Just terrible.

So, Love or Hate? The first Hate for bob. Sorry man!

I believe we just refer to it as "dropping the ball".
