Listen to Variations for Piano and Electronics and I'll get back to you.

How many times do they have to turn the doorknob. I'm good with once.

Okay, back to the real thread.
This will be the last for a while. It completes the current list and as you can see, I haven't even got around to updating the OP with the new list, never mind actually listening to any of the albums. So review-wise, this thread will be taking a short break while I concentrate on other stuff and then get to start listening to albums. Recs are still open until Tuesday.
But for now, let's go out on a high...

Title: Felt Mountain
Artiste: Goldfrapp
Genre: Electronic
Familiarity: Zero
Recommended by: grindy

Expectations: It's electronic, it's grindy, so it could go either way. Can't make a prediction.

1. Lovely head: Well I must say I love this; sound very romantic for some reas --- oh hell! Didn't expect that velvet voice! Thought this was going to be an instrumental. This is gorgeous. Amazing start. That high synth or whatever it is near the middle!
2. Paper bag: This is absolutely beautiful too. Such orchestration, and that voice!
3. Humans: Little more uptempo, sort of reminds me of those old cabaret vocalists, a little like Lana del Rey earlier. Good kind of tango-ish rhythm. Great brass.
4. Pilots: This is just dreamy and ethereal. The whistling works really well here, voice is pure seduction.
5. Deer stop: Another supremely beautiful track. The violins are lovely and really add to the atmosphere.
6. Felt Mountain: Very Kate Bush feeling here. Not a bad thing at all.
7. Oompa radar: Quite a carnival feel to this one. Is that tuba (would explain the “oompa”)? The organ is pretty great. Wouldn't be a favourite though.
8. Utopia: Much better. The soft voice, the awe-inspiring choral vocals and the almost incongruous tinny synth makes this one hell of a song.
9. Horse tears: Really powerful, soulful vocal here. Slow, lamenting, melancholic. Beautiful. Sumptuous ending, violin is gorgeous.

End result: While I know nothing of electronic music, or very little, this was not what I expected when I saw the genre tag. An absolute joy from beginning to end, and another artiste I have to make time to check more into.

So, Love or Hate? With all those Blues, it could only be, couldn't it? True Love.

So that's it, as far as reviews are concerned, for the moment. Thanks for playing and

Se ya some other time!

^I was pretty sure you'd love it and happy to see my predicitions came true.
One of the best and classiest pop albums in music history in my opinion.
Too bad they completely changed their style after that.
BTW, that high synth in the first song is actually her singing, with lots of effects of course.

The Sonics - Here Are The Sonics!!!

Considered by many to be the first Proto-Punk album.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

Didn't someone already suggest a Sonics album?

Come forward if you already suggested a Sonics album.

A search didn't come up with any previous instances of "sonics" being used in this thread.

Probably, if a record had been suggested, it would have been that one. So I'm assuming no.
