Anyway, the hip hop album I rec'd is pretty unique so it might be different enough from what you've heard to not compare it to anything else that you already hate.
Obviously, use your head. I'm talking about someone recommending say four black metal, or six hip-hop, or three soul records in a row. Rock is way too wide a description. Dammit man, I'm not going to go into a long explanation. You know what I mean and why I have had to do this.

Final decision is up to me as to whether or not I accept your rec, how about that?

How about Boris' Pink? I have no illusions that you'll like everything on it, and it's possible that you'll hate the whole thing, but it's such a diverse album that I'm curious what your opinion on it would be on a song-by-song basis. It's eclectic enough that it might "broaden your horizons" a bit, if nothing else.

Not crazy about this guitar instrumental stuff. Bit bored.
I don't believe math rock is for me.

End result: Yeah, pretty much hated this all the way through. Loud and grating and abrasive and with little if any discernible melody. Mostly just like one long guitar wankout solo. With drums. Yawn.

So, Love or Hate? That's gonna be a Hate

Ah, that's too bad. Although, I think it's one of those albums that either people love or hate, which is fine.

That said, I still hope you're cool with checking out that Slint album. It's got some mathy elements to it, but it's absolutely nothing like Hella (subtle, intelligent guitar work instead of balls to the walls Zach Hill'd freakout).

I'll certainly listen to it and tell you what I think, but I'm not really doing a track-by-track thing here. If anything stands out (good or bad) I'll be sure to note it though.

I'll put it on the list. One album won't spoil the whole subgenre for me I'm sure. I'll give it another go.

Aesop Waits - Tom Shall Pass

https://aesopwaits.bandcamp.com/releases

Okay, so in this continued effort to get you into Hip Hop I think I have picked an album that could help that process along. It's a mashup of Aesop Rock and Tom Waits. You should enjoy the instrumentals, and in turn I would hope that you're not put off by the rapping element.

Title: Heathenreel
Artiste: Elvenking
Genre: Power/Folk Metal

Love
Pretty much everything about this
“Skywards” is a great little ballad; like the kind of operatic vocals in it

Hate
The silly death vocals in “The Regality dance” (and elsewhere)
Okay: the end part of “Skywards” took me by surprise and I don't think it works.

End result: I don't suppose anyone will be surprised to learn that I enjoyed this, being a power metal fan. Really good album.

So, Love or Hate? A Love, for the first time in a while it seems

Chances of a full review: 9/10

Actually I had meant to listen to that. I'll make an exception and add it. But I don't want people to be on some mission to get me into hip-hop: again, that's not what this is about. If I happen to like a certain hip-hop album that's great, but don't then bombard me with a bunch of them in the hope I'll like them too, as the one I do end up getting into is likely to be the exception to the rule.

To be honest I only recommended it out of the blue when thinking of albums. I was initially going to suggest a rock album. But we will save that for later.
