Slayer did do a hardcore punk cover album, since they were inspired by Hardcore Punk bands. If you like Slayer you might find some Crossover Thrash (Hardcore Punk + Thrash Metal) band you like.
Yeah, Undisputed attitude: I reviewed it in Metal Month II.
Again, as I say, I'm not actively looking for punk bands. I don't have too much interest in getting into that style of music. If I come across an album I don't hate then fine, but I am not looking for recs for punk bands. I can't honestly say I liked Slayer but I learned through that experience not to hate them, or just dismiss them out of hand. That's about the best I can say.

Title: #1 Record
Artiste: Big Star
Genre: Power Pop

Love
1. The kind of Country feel to “Ballad of El Goodo”
2. Nice kind of West Coast feel overall
3. Acoustic ballad “Thirteen” is really nice then “Don't lie to me” is a real enthusiastic rocker somewhat in the mould of Sweet. Sweet!
4. I hear The Eagles, Simon and Garfunkel, Bread, and a lot of other good influences here
5. “Give me another chance” is a lovely ballad
6. “Try again” is an even better one

Hate
Nothing.

End result: I can't believe this album sunk without a trace. Ten thousand ****ing copies? Stupid ****s of marketing amateurs. This should have been huge. Enjoyed every track.

So, Love or Hate? What do you think? Love of course, and lots of it.

Chances of a full review: 9/10

Didn't we all try really hard to get you to listen to Big Star in the "Classic albums I've never heard"? :P Or at least one of your journals. Anyway their other albums are also excellent, and imo Third / Sister Lovers is even better than #1 Record.

Josef wanted Radio City, you wanted Third, and I wanted #1 Record, so TH was too confused to review them.

One Big Star album is enough for anyone IMO.

Is it because you don't like them or think all their albums are the same?

Third sounds a lot different to #1 Record to me

I don't know if I can still like Big Star.

I like them all from what I remember. But they aren't a band I personally think is worth listening to all that much. Just listen to one or two, enjoy them, and find something more interesting.

Yeah, that's basically it. Well I got there in the end.

Incorrect. I'm sure I'll listen to more. And if this is power pop then I want more please.
