I am going to make more of an effort to really get into their music now. I have always thought they were great, but not really listened to many of their albums fully (Sound Of Science is the only CD I have downloaded).

Tragic news indeed. RIP.

What a loss.
I also reminisce about the License to Ill album. It was the first respectable cassette tape I ever owned.

My favorite member. He really was too young. Rest in peace, Adam.

RIP. He was in a very influential and innovative group that deserves respect. He will be missed. The Beastie Boys recorded some of the most innovative and entertaining music. I wish future artistic success to Adam Horowitz (King Ad-Rock), Micheal Diamond (Mike D), and Michael Schwartz (Mix Master Mike) in their continuing adventures.

Onto the favorite personal memories...
One of my favorite listening experiences was with Paul's Boutique, which one of my best friends played many times from '89 through the Early 90's on many road trips. I had the album burned into my memory then after the tape got munched, and to this day parts still play in my mind. It is that great of an album.

Another great experience was with Check Your Head which I owned on vinyl as well as CD. Great music, excellent packaging, and fine videos to go with the singles picks. That album certainly will be a major highlight of not only The 90's, but also of all time.

I'll always remember the massive media frenzy when the Licence To Ill tour hit the UK.

I was about 12 or 13 years old at the time. I know in the States there's always this controversy in the media every time some 'Shocking' band comes along, but in the UK it's really rare this ever happens and gets prime time news coverage.

As soon as the Beastie Boys hit the UK you had all these moral crusaders appearing on the news demanding they be banned from playing because they swore, had topless cage dancers and giant inflatable penises

I, and most people I went to school with however thought it was the coolest thing ever and the Licence To Ill album became a landmark in my childhood.

I was barely out of nappies when punk hit the mainstream, Thanks Adam. You and your two buddies gave me MY punk rock, and for that I will always be grateful to you.

RIP my friend.
