Tarantula Hawk - s/t Got this one from Schizotypic. First of all, let me start off by saying that this was indeed a very nice album. The genre is essentially experimental, indie rock. This album is purely instrumental, and I enjoyed this aspect, however, I tend to lean more towards the lyrical aspects of a band. Throughout this album I felt as though I was being caged inside an abandoned room in Pennsylvania. There is a very mythical, vampiric feel to the instrumentals which was the first thing that I observed. The music is indeed phenomenal, with just relentless, deep, impressive strums at every corner. However, like I said before, I tend to lean more on the lyrical aspects of bands, which was obviously void in this album. Maybe for this reason, the album did not fully appeal to my overall sense of taste. I did, however, enjoy the somewhat dark undertones I experienced throughout the album. It may have gotten tedious at times... I guess 50 minutes for one song was a bit much? But there was indeed some impressive aspects. Rating: 6/10
