i don't mind listening to that many songs for a first pass, but then again, this is from a guy who used to download full discographies from bands, hehe.

![]() Intro To 21st Century South Africa This is a mix of songs that I have made that show some of the various musical scenes we have in SA ranging all over the country and into various genres. There are a mix of some major bands/artists and some more lesser known bands just to keep everything interesting. If you do care to download and listen, please do leave your comments about the music if you wish. It would be nice to hear some opinions from non-South Africans. I will try to include the year and genre that they belong to but some I know are not accurate already, so just use them as a guideline. Tracklisting: 1. 7th Son - These Days (2006) Reggae/Dub 2. 16th Stitch - Anyone (2007) Alternative Rock/Metal 3. Dj Mujava - Township Funk (2007) House/Elctronica 4. Fokofpolisiekar - Prioriteseer (2005) Alternative/Punk Rock 5. Fuzigish - Bombs Away (2006) Ska Punk 6. Goldfish - Fort Knox (2008) Electronica/Jazz 7. Gonzo Republic - Jeniffer (2008) Blues Rock 8. I just played the discog the other day. Sure there are 26 songs, but the whole thing's only 47 minutes. Probably shorter than most Beginner's Guides.

Yeah **** it.
Seems like only bands I could help people with have such little discographies and now i'm just digging. I'll get around to a Nirvana comp one of these days, weather people want it or not. Anyone interested in Mudhoney possibly? Maybe a guide to ska in general? Grunge in general? hardcore/old school 80s punk in general? Just let me know. |

![]() The Beginner's Guide To Talking Heads ![]() Easily the one of the greatest New Wave/Post Punk bands ever, Talking Heads revolutionized music as a whole, bringing African beats and unconventional instruments and production methods into the public spectrum. Their music is stylistically varied from album to album, and the various live albums that they release showcase the immense talent of the band onstage. Their influence is still felt today, and many acclaimed artists, including Radiohead, Modest Mouse, and Kate Bush cite Talking Heads as a direct influence. This compilation spans their discography, featuring studio recordings and many live versions of their songs. Tracklist: 1. Psycho Killer (The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads Live Version - Disc 1) 2. Don't Worry About the Government (Talking Heads: 77) 3. The Book I Read (Talking Heads: 77) 4. Pulled Up (Talking Heads: 77) 5. Take Me To the River (Al Green Cover - More Songs About Buildings and Food) 6. Warning Sign (The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads Live Version) 7. Cities (Fear of Music) 8. I Zimbra (Fear of Music) 9. Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On) (Remain in Light) 10. Life During Wartime (The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads Live Version) 11. Girlfriend is Better (Stop Making Sense Live Version) 12. This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) (Speaking in Tongues) 13. Heaven (The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads Live Version) 14. Radio Head (True Stories) 15. Once In a Lifetime (Remain in Light) 16. Burning Down the House (Stop Making Sense Live Version) 17. Listening Wind (Remain in Light) 18. ![]() ![]() Intro To (mostly) 80s Punk My Favorite Comp I have mad so far. "Punk Rock is a sub-genre of Western Popular Music. Its harmonic roots lie in the bastardized Chicago Blues favored by groups like the Rolling Stones. From the very beginning, Punk thought of itself as a reaction to the commercialization of youth culture. What the Dolls and the Stooges espoused was what has become known as the DIY, or Do-It-Yourself ethic. By dispensing with pop music's production values, punk rock became something that anyone could do. One does not have to look pretty or play well in order to perform punk music. What matters is that one gets up and plays." Song Band Red Tape -Circle Jerks Operation - Circle Jerks 500 Channels - Choking Victim Infested - Choking Victim Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie - Black Flag Steak Knife - Angry Samoans Myage - Descendents In Decay -INDK East Coast Rising - INDK Gang Control - Leftover Crack Time To Learn - LxExAxRxNx Straight Edge - Minor Threat Minor Threat - In My Eyes Came Without Warning - Scream Operation Ivy - Vulnerability Operation Ivy - The Crowd I Wanna Be A Homosexual - Screeching Weasel The Real You - The Suicide Machines Punk Rock Jock - Assorted jelly Beans (18 Songs) DOWNLOAD MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service Last edited by BTown; 10-03-2009 at 01:47 PM. |
