And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

AND HELL YES: How could you find fault with the Beatles? I mean THE BEATLES??? You must see that Lennon/McCartney is the most ingenious songwriter-duo EVER! There was nothing like them before and there won't ever exist anything comparable...
And I don't say that cuz they were so famous or popular and everybody likes them... I listen to the Beatles since I'm like 2 or 3 (my daddy the Beatles-Addict), I grew up with them. And I NEVER got tired of them. You can't honestly get tired of the Beatles and that's why they're so unique: You have to love their songs, none is like the other and they're made for eternity.
And in case I got children someday (unlikely, but not impossible), one thing I know for sure: They'll grew up with the Beatles as well.

I reckon the Beatles were heros back when they pioneered a lot of variations in the music universe but times have changed. It's no fault of the Beatles but since things have evolved if i had to pick modern bands or bands that are "slightly old" (led zep etc) or the Beatles I know what I would rather listen to. (..the modern stuff)

But given the the position the beatles came from and their time, in no way are they overated. Everything needs a foundation on which things can improve. People always look at the beautiful structure not thinking about the fact that it wouldnt be there without the foundation. Take nothing from the fab four.
