i just think it should be more obvious. if you hear a song that sounds like every other song unless you sit there and have to work at figuring out the differences, then something is wrong. but really, i'm talking about the songs themselves. through the whole song it's so monotenous.

I think all country sounds the same. But I don't listen to country. I think Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, Hinder, etc. all sound the same. But I don't listen to them. If you listen to anything for long enough it will sound different. To say that all of Trance sounds the same is... well I just can't see how you wouldn't be able to distinguish between music from a group like Kamui and Above & Beyond. Do you listen to any electronic music at all?

not really, but I have heard some of it and i can tell the difference between stuff like dubstep and stuff that just has a straight beat like trance. but when it comes to figuring out really minor differences between stuff in the same general category, it gets way too retarded to try and figure out what is what.

i don't really enjoy electronic at all, so i don't really try i guess.

That would probably be the problem then. I could see that with something like Minimal Techno, but not something as melody driven as Trance. But I've been listening to it for 10 years so that's a big part of it.

but the difference would be the melody if you put two melody trance songs side by side, right? might as well be one guy making all the trance songs then.

But there's subgenres and nuances with every artist's style. They evolve, just like any other artist in any other genre. Take Tiesto for example. He went from:

to

If you think they sound similar, then, I just wouldn't know what to tell you. I'd have to chalk it up to your ignorance and lack of knowledge in Electronic music.

I've used the quote feature to make it seem as if more people had posted. Possibly the loneliest genre week ever.

Thoughts on Psytrance and Downtempo?

Those are my favorite sub-genres.
