Default What do you think of Tago Mago?

It's right now my first Krautrock album. At first it was a little hard for me to get into but now I guess I'm slowly liking it more and more. My favourite track now is Paperhouse, least is probably Peking O.

My experience was just like yours, Aichuk; didn´t like it at first, but it has subsequently become a real favourite. It sounds kind of carelessly put together, which used to offend me until I realized that that´s what makes it so great. After listening to Tago Mago for a while, other albums began to sound too artificial and contrived and I had to go back to Tago Mago for a hit of superb, unpretentious studio jamming. I always skip Peking O, though, while Aum is my favourite, I think. Their next album Ege Bomyasi is pretty good, but doesn´t quite have the raw energy of Tago, imo.
Plenty of (old) opinions here:-

It's a masterpiece. Very odd. Kind of the anti Trout Mask Replica in that TMR was meticulously planned out and chaotic, but this is improvisational and chaotic.

Hearing Oh Yeah changed my life back in the day. Not really, but it did change my listening habits. For a few months.
