Honourable Mention Number 3 Sudan Archives - Sudan Archives EPs count. Time to bring up another genre term I hate: folktronica. It's not that I don't think that it's a valid genre, I just think it sounds stupid. Also, as electronic instruments become more ubiquitous and affordable, the genre will become more and more meaningless. Maybe stuff like this will be called trad folktranica. Sudan Archives blends R&B, North African (probably Sudanese innit), and electronics on her self-titled EP. She's a self-taught violinist and you can really hear the organic instinct in her playing. Her songs could be a little bit more laid out as some get a bit repetitive, but what's there is still a really enjoyable and captivating listen. The tracks are catchy and full of rhythms that sometimes sound like Clap! Clap!. It's a short listen and if you're into African/Arabic music or R&B, then you should probably give it a shot.

Never heard of folktronica, but I heard this song in the plug.dj and listened to it over and over. Liked the song a lot. Ill check out the albums you post, on spotify if they are and see if I like any.

Another Cool Single Jpegmafia - Man Purse It's too bad that Jpegmafia didn't drop an album in 2017 since 2nd Amendment was so dope, but he did drop a couple of bangers. I love his twisted and dirty production that's clearly inspired by Death Grips but not in a way that jacks their style. The track plays off of I Might Vote for Donald Trump in his flows and lyrics, but that's not really what I turn to Jpegmafia for. He's simultaneously tripped out, intense, and meditative on Man Purse, can't wait to see what Peggy does in the future. Though I don't think he can carry it on his own tbh, it'd be cool if he collabed with Freaky or someone again. I could see him teaming up with Daveed Diggs being ****ing crazy.
