Default Metallica - "Beyond Magnetic" (2011)

NOTE: I am a casual listener of Metallica

Hate Train

It opens with a great guitar solo, followed by a metal scream. Then we're hit with the first verse, where the lyrics suck really, really bad. In the second verse, the lyrics are pretty good, and in the third, they're just okay. The calmer bridges are a good break from the rougher, normal melody. The second solo is freaking fantastic! The best thing about the song is that it had enough variation to keep it from overstaying it's welcome. Overall, it's a solid track.

Hell And Back

The intro is kinda abrupt when going into the body of the song. Don't know why I noticed this, but the drums kick keister! This really helps with the great build-up the song has! This song has better lyrics than "Hate Train" which is really helped by the fact (Opinion) that this song has the best vocals on the album. This is also a solid track!
(RATING: 8/10)

Just A Bullet Away

This is, by far, the catchiest song on the album, with the best lyrics. The drums are fantastic, but none of the other instruments are terribly notable. The only other problem I can find with the song is that the intro isn't all that great. Overall, though, it's pretty good.

Rebels Of Babylon

This is a decent way to end the EP, and decent through and through. While there is a pretty good amount of variation, the song overstays it's welcome by about 2 minutes. Although, I will say, the solo was great, and the guitar overall was alright. I really dig the transitions between the slow and fast portions. That being said, this is the weakest track on the EP. It's not all that notable
(RATING: 6.75/10)
(OVERALL RATING: 8.5/10)

Conclusion
This is a pretty solid effort, but it has it's issues. I do recommend it, but lower your expectations a bit for this one.
