I've only heard Hounds of Love, Aerial and The Dreaming plus the singles

will be torrenting the rest of her discography soon

The Dreaming is my fave of the lot and Hounds even if poppy, does have the engaging The Ninth Wave

Great thread. I love The Dreaming best although I have massive affection for The Sensual World.

I've gone off The Dreaming a bit, some great songs but others that I like less. The Kick Inside is definitely my favourite now.

The Dreaming is an amazing album, on par with Peter Gabriel's Security in terms of weirdness.

Hounds Of Love was her commercial breakthrough, but it also has an experimental vibe.

The Kick Inside and Aerial are two albums that I can play over and over again, though. Especially The Kick Inside. That debut album is highly underrated.

Her debut was her commercial breakthrough. Kate was never more popular than during the late 70s after the release of her debut album.

i think that was only in the UK and certain parts of Europe

the song that really broke her through was Running Up That Hill

Well, Wuthering Heights from her debut album is her biggest selling single. It was the first single by a female solo artist to reach #1 on the UK singles charts and made her famous and commercially successful over night. If I had to point out one commercial breakthrough with importance to her career, that would definetly be it.

She had a Japanese no1 in the late 70s, and had been successful in other places like Australia as well. She was probably more famous in America from Hounds of Love on but they were a bit behind on things.
