Haha, Can't say I've ever wanted to be a mime, but hey whatever makes you happy Gavin B.
I have been on a
HUGE Rolling Stones kick this week so let the reviewing begin!
SONG: Mother's Little Helper
ARTIST: Rolling Stones
ALBUM: Aftermath
That away Stones, slap 'em with some reality! When I hear this song I picture the mom on "Leave It To Beaver" shoveling down pills right before Beaver walks in. In some weird way that gives me satisfaction. Cause usually I can't get none.
One of the reasons I love the Stone's is because of their spunkiness, and that characteristic is evident in this song like no other.
There's no mistaking what song I am listening to when hear that classy line right at the beginning "What a drag it is getting old" and the mass of fuzzy guitar with the sitar highlights strewn about. And you just gotta love the cleverness of those golden lyrics. My favorite:
"
Cooking fresh food for a husbands just a drag
So she buys an instant cake and she burns her frozen steak
And goes running for the shelter of her mothers little helper"
But without Mick Jagger singing these, they just wouldn't be the same of course. I love how he draws out the words in "Doctor pleeeeeeease, some more of theeeeeeeese." that makes it sound so dire and desperate.
Good job, Rolling Stones. I have been fully entertained by this one.
